Day 4 Revisited - Turning south instead

Well I thought I had my eastbound trip pretty well scoped out until I read this fascinating article in the New York Times Magazine  -- the new Whitney Slavery Museum.  I decided I had to go see it.  So when I leave Ramah, NM on Day 4 I will go south to Las Cruces, NM on my way to cut across Texas to Louisiana.  I will be staying at the La Quinta Inn,  which is a pet friendly motel for a reasonable price.  Along the way, I'll stop to walk Toro at one of the two wildlife refuges along the way, either Sevilleta or Bosque del Apache.  Here is the route, 337 miles, 5 hours and 7 minutes (excluding time spent at the chosen NWR):
